Celebrating 8 Successful Years in Elkton!

The Born  To Be Wild  Weekend is a  joint effort hosted this year by the Elkton Area Chamber of  Commerce and  WLEW Radio station. Each year, the planning committee selects a local organization to benefit from the  event’s proceeds. Past years this was done by the committee which consisted of Elkton Area Chamber of Commerce, Abate Region 7, Thumb Cellular and WLEW.  Its recipients have included:

  • Huron Youth Center
  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters
  • Bluewater Center for Independent Living
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Thumb Area Assault Crisis Center
  • Huron County Safe Place
  • Local Summer youth programs in Huron, Sanilac & Tuscola Counties
  • Local American Veterans of Foreign Wars
  • Abate Region 7
  • Ackerman Memorial Park

This year, the proceeds from the event will be going to benefit the Abate Region 7 and the Ackerman Memorial Park.  This park has been host to many community activities, youth  sporting events & family reunions for county  wide  residences  for generations including the hosting of Born to be Wild for the past 8 years.
